L'unboxing che voglio mostrare oggi è molto particolare, è un modello di Gundam RX-78-2 in lamina di metallo cromato, da assemblare senza utilizzo di colle. E' un puzzle in 3D a tutti gli effetti.
Un bellissimo regalo da un grande amico, proveniente direttamente da Tokyo.
Today's unboxing is really particular, it's a Gundam RX-78-2 model, in laminated chromed metal, to assemble without use of glue. It's a 3D puzzle definitely.

Il montaggio di modello non comporterà l'uso di colle, come dicevo, ne di colori, ne pennelli, ne altri strumenti tipici del modellista usati nel nostro hobby. Tutte le parti di cui è composto, andranno assemblate e si terranno insieme grazie a piccole linguette di metallo piegabili, fino a realizzare un modello tridimensionale alto 116mm, largo 80mm, profondo 92mm, del peso di 21gr. L'unico strumento richiesto per completare il modello, è una pinza a becco a punta, per piegare le linguette di assemblaggio.
Mounting this model does not involve use of glues, as I wrote, not colors, brushes or other tipical modelling tools used in our hobby. All its parts will be assembled and joined with help of little tabs to bent, until realizing a tridimensional model with height of 116mm, width 80mm, depth 92mm and weight of 21gr. Tongs with little tips are the only required tool to bend tabs and assemble it.
Inside box there are two metal chromed sheets, probably aluminium, with height of 210mm and width 110mm. Its thickness is less than 1mm, like a cardstock sheet. Total number of pieces is 80 plus laser sword, put in a plastic bag, alone. There are also two instruction sheets totally and roughly in Japanese. Luckily, as japanese tradition, there are a lot of drawings with numbers, so it's easy to understand the way to assemble it.

All'interno della scatola sono presenti due fogli metallici cromati, probabilmente di alluminio, delle dimensioni di 210mm in altezza per 110mm in larghezza. Lo spessore è minimo, meno di 1 millimetro, come un foglio di cartoncino. I pezzi in totale sono 80 più la spada laser imbustata a parte. Sono presenti anche due fogli di istruzioni totalmente e violentemente in giapponese strettissimo. Fortunatamente, come da tradizione giapponese, le istruzioni sono largamente coadiuvate da disegni numerati, per cui risulta facile la comprensione del procedimento di montaggio.

Ho cominciato l'assemblaggio, partendo dal braccio sinistro. I pezzi metallici sono solidi e resistenti, e non è facile separarli dalla cornice in cui sono contenuti, usando il taglierino. Il modo migliore è piegarli avanti e indietro finchè non si staccano da soli. Risultano molto morbidi alla piegatura, principalmente nelle parti tratteggiate che vanno piegate per realizzare le parti tridimensionali, ma anche nelle parti che dovranno rimanere integre.
I started to work on it, on its left arm. Metallic parts are solid and durable, it's not so easy to cut them with a hobby knife, from their frame. The best way is to bend them up and down until they go off. These parts are tender and easy to bend, especially along pointed lines made to create tridimensional parts, but also other solid parts are easy to bend.
La difficoltà nel realizzare questo modello è tutta in questo fatto, i pezzi sono delicati, c'e' alto rischio di deformarli o piegarli dove non si deve, rovinandone la forma, oppure c'e' rischio di romperli, se piegati troppo spesso. Bisogna essere molto leggeri, precisi e decisi nel seguire le istruzioni.
Il problema secondario è che essendo cromato a specchio, si riempirà di ditate. Andrà lucidato alla fine, sempre con delicatezza, per renderlo brillante come merita.
Sicuramente ci vorrà del tempo, non andrà fatto di corsa, per evitare di rovinarlo. Sarà una bella sfida, diversa dalle miniature che sono abituato a gestire, ma molto divertente.
The difficulties of realizing this model are in this fact, pieces are delicate, there's a serious risk to deformate them or bend them wrong or to break them if bent too much. We have to be light and precise following instructions.
Secondary problem is its chromium finishing, like a mirror. It will be full of fingerprints, at the end. I have to polish it, lightly, to give it a shining effect.
Surely I have to spend a lot of time on it, to avoid damage. It will be a good challenge, different from normal miniatures that I used to manage, and It will be amazing.
